Behold, I will send my messengers and they shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek shall suddenly come to Her Temple, even the Messengers of the Covenant who ye shall delight in: Behold, they shall come, saith the Lord of Hosts. Malachi 3:1

Bible Study

We were having a discussion the other day about - He that hath ears to hear, let him hear - and its meaning.

Matthew 11:15, Matthew 13:43, Mark 4:23, Mark 7:16, Luke 8:8, Luke 14:35

It was hard for me to picture that Jesus was saying this like he was wondering if the people in that back could hear or if they even had ears. The visual image was not making sense. Rereading over and over again this one line, almost to the point of a "chant", one thing kept sticking out, "TO Hear". It was obvious there was something I was supposed to be listening to. Yet Parables are what was given and left for us. Analogies that had no similarities to my life in the 21st Century, I'm neither a fisherman nor a shepherd. Was there something in the stories over and above the literal that I was hearing?

Matthew 13:3 And he spake many things unto them in parables
Matthew 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables
Matthew 15:15 . . Declare unto us this parable
Mark 4:10 And when he was alone they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable
Mark 4:33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them
Mark 7:17 . . his disciples asked him concerning the parable. Maybe "TO Hear" went a little deeper? Maybe it had nothing to do with whether I had good hearing or not.
Matthew 15:10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
Mark 7:14 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:
Luke 8:21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God and do it.

Hear AND understand, so "TO hear" is more than just hearing. It even takes more than conscious listening roo. For even after having one on one lessons with the Master Jesus, his disciples would testify-

John 6:60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, "This is a hard saying: who can hear it?"

And other times I can almost picture Jesus wanting to bop this disciples in the forehead -

Matthew 15:16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

If literal "hearing" of the parables weren't it, than literal "reading of the parables" wouldn't be it either. Yet at the same time we know the information/knowledge is there to be found.

Mark 4:22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was anything kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

Now I'm more familiar with these words

Matthew 7:7-8
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened

for these are the ones I grew up with. The understanding of "manifested" and "secret" came later. Still the meaning is the same. Okay, to manifest a secret, what question am I asking, who am I asking, what, when, where and how am I receiving?

Gospel of Thomas 17 "I shall give to you what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, what no hand has touched, has not occurred to the human mind."

Well that doesn't help very much. If I can't see it, hear it, touch it, or understand it with the literal, the logical, reasoning thing called the mind, which is where we have placed our function to understand. Than where am I supposed to find this “understanding/ Knowledge of God.

Matthew 13:14 And unto them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing, ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive:

By truly listening you shall understand, and shall the heart (non-intellectual side) understand. And with the inner sight you will see and from the sight of your heart shall you perceive.

Mark 4:11,12
11 And he said unto them, unto you it is given to know the mystery of the Kingdom of God; but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive, and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted and their sins should be forgiven them.

You were given the knowledge of the Kingdom of God; those that do not understand now, given them in these stories is the information so that at such time when their hearts open they will understand the meanings.

Hear and Understand with an Open Heart..

When asked “What thing was most quickly erased from memory?” Aristotle answered “It is Gratefulness.”
It was obvious when no one had the answer it was time to go looking for the question.

The Path

When man made his first steps to see his world, he had created the first path. As the path pressed the ground beneath his feet, his imprints were left behind.

Day after day he sought to find his world, only leaving a small foot prints in the ground. Never looking back, always seeking ahead, man continued his quest. His thirst and hunger for knowledge separated him from others.

His path became a road so others could follow. Man became a scholar.

What he seeks may be blind to others, and man can be blinded while he seeks his path. His quest is for himself. Others may follow this path but not his quest. For a man on a quest is oblivious to his effect of others. Only at times of reflections can he see his past. His eyes and feet so sternly focused on his path blinds him of fate of others that follows.

Man's appetite for explanation or reasoning guides him through unpredictability. These are traits only man has. No animals seek for reason of existence, animals concentrate on survival and reproductively. The path man creates so convincingly with his prints can be washed away when traveled alone. But man, the scholar will continue looking for his path.

Many others have traveled through their universe, seeking paths of prophets, looking for their reason. Often time's paths will cross others. They may run parallel or intersect with others. Stories of travels are exchanged. Knowledge is created and passed down from man to man But still, man must seek his own path. The thirst of existence drives him down his path.

Even though he may not be alone, his path will be measured by the amount of others that follow. His quest will end but his path will travel to eternity. Mans knowledge can not be filled. He is limited by his amount of understanding and compassion. His paths will merely take him somewhere. It will not explain to him why.

Whispers

The man whispered, "God, speak to me" and a meadowlark sang. But, the man did not hear. So the man yelled, "God, speak to me" and the thunder rolled across the sky. But, the man did not listen. The man looked around and said, "God let me see you." And a star shined brightly. But the man did not see. And, the man shouted, "God show me a miracle." And, a life was born. But, the man did not notice. So, the man cried out in despair, "Touch me God, and let me know you are here." Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man. But, the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on. The man cried, "God, I need your help!" And an e-mail arrived reaching out with good news and encouragement. But, the man deleted it and continued crying.

Angels of the.........

Angels are known for many things in this world. What most people don't know is that angels play a big role in astrology. There are said to be angels for almost every astrological term for time, day, week, month, year, planets, zodiac signs and even the four elements of the world. From my studies of angels, I have learned what angels look over or govern over these specific things. Here are the explanations of each one:

Angels of the........ HOURS

In traditional astrology, the period between sunrise and sunset was subdivided into hours, each ruled by a different planet.
The heavenly bodies utilized were the seven traditional Planets prior to the discovery of Uranus, including the sun and the moon. As with many other phases of astrology, these planetary hours were also associated with angels. Traditional astrology stipulates that the day be divided into twelve equal segments between sunrise and sunset, which may vary in length according to the season. On a particular day, the first of these hours is ruled by the planet ruling the day of the week. For instance, on Saturday, the first hour would be ruled by Saturn; on Sunday, the first hour would be ruled by the Sun. The following hours are ruled by the next planet in this order: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, The Sun, Venus, and then the Moon. After the moon, one begins again with Saturn and repeats the same order.

DAYS OF THE WEEK
There are angels who have the authority over the seven days of the week. These angels give their particular day their special attention and in legend can be invoked to assist a person during a problem or need. These angels are:
Sunday- Michael
Monday - Gabriel
Tuesday - Camael / Sammael
Wednesday - Raphael
Thursday - Sachiel
Friday - Anael
Saturday - Cassiel

OF THE YEAR
The year is divided into twelve months, which is called the lunar cycle. (The orbital cycle of the Moon around the Earth) The Moon completes this cycle twelve times a year. The angels of the year are those angels who have rulership or governship over each of the months of the year. The designated angels are as follows:
January - Gabriel
February - Barchiel
March - Machidiel
April - Asmodel
May- Ambriel
June - Muriel
July - Verchiel
August - Hamaliel
September - Uriel / Zuriel
October - Barbiel
November - Adnachiel
December - Hanael

OF THE PLANETS
The angels of the planets are a group of angels who possess certain powers over the planets. The list of planets were connected with astrology and was based upon the concept of the seven planets: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter, along with them are the Sun and the Moon. (Known as the famed seven planets) Planets are the celestial bodies orbiting the Sun. The planets were referred to as Wanderers. Unlike the stars, they always were changing their positions keeping to the background of the celestial sphere. In this instance the Sun and the Moon are also considered Wanderers. Traditionally astrology referred to them both as Planets and Angels that are inhabitants of the celestial sphere. It is not difficult to make connections between them. The angels and planets are:
Moon - Gabriel
Sun - Raphael
Mercury - Michael
Venus - Anael
Mars - Sammael
Jupiter - Zadkiel
Saturn - Kafziel

OF THE ZODIAC
This is the tradition that there are ruling angels who watch over or govern the twelve signs of the zodiac. They are often to be considered synonyms with the various angels of the months of the year. The Zodiac is the name given to the imaginary zone of the heavens in which the Sun, Moon, and Planets have their orbits. All of the heavenly bodies appear to move across the face of the same set of constellations. The twelve astrological signs associated with the twelve constellations. Specifically, the angels are:
Capricorn - Hanael
Aquarius - Gabriel
Pisces - Barchiel
Aries - Machidiel
Taurus - Asmodel
Gemini - Ambriel
Cancer - Muriel
Leo - Verchiel
Virgo - Hamaliel
Libra - Uriel
Scorpio - Barbiel
Sagittarius - Adnachiel

OF THE ELEMENTS
There are four elements for our world. They are the earth, air, water, and fire.(states of matter) There are elemental spirits along with angels that are said to rule them. They are as follows:

Earth - Gnomes-Uriel
Water -Unidines-Gabriel
Air - Sylphs-Raphael
Fire - Salamander-Michael

The four Cardinal Points of Direction: Water - North, Air - West, Fire - East, Earth - South

So, in conclusion, this is what I have learned about which angel is in charge or ruled by which astrological term. With this knowledge you can then find out which angels are watching over you.

The Pentagram / Pentacle

One of the most ancient symbols dating back + - 6000 years, representing Man / Women kind and all the elements that comprise the world around us has gotten a real bad rep over the past hundred years or so. Back then Satanism had not been invented yet, nor had the medieval madness of the Inquisitions started. Archeologists have found potsherds with the Pentagram designs in the all famous Babylonian and Sumerian areas. It was used as an important role as an official seal for the City of Jerusalem during 300 - 150 B.C. The Pentagram's Sister Symbol, the six pointed star were both known as the Seal of Solomon. The six pointed star - known as the Star of David - a double triangle, is a symbol of "As above, so as Below" is still used in the Kabbalah and Jewish belief. The Pentagram is also still used to herald the feminine side of the Masonic Lodges, "Order of the Eastern Star", as well as American law and military symbols. In Philosophy I found the Pentagram to be known as "The Star of Microcosm" (the star of a mini universe). Leonardo da Vinci's drawing of the Vitruvian Man, was inspired by Vitruvius' De Architectura (Greek), which was pure Geometry. The Cross, Star and Circle are all depicted in the illustration symbolizing the balance of science and spirituality. To add Astrology to this, the Pentagram, five pointed star, is the geometric design Venus makes when she moves in the Heavens. The circle part is reflected in the circular motion Venus takes around the Sun. Venus also known as the Morning or Evening Star relates us back to the Pentagram and her (Venus) also being a symbol used in Pagan/Wiccan belief. In the Pagan and Wiccan Religions even the points of the Star has meaning. The Top Point represents the element of Spirit, the Ethereal, the everlasting. The remaining points represent human experience. The Top Left Point symbolizes Earth, security, growth and nourishment. The top Right Point represents Air, the element of Mind, thought, intelligence, rationale. The Bottom Left Point is Fire, symbolic of adrenaline, passion and drive. The Bottom Right Point is the element of Water representing emotion, pure Love, and the Cycle of Life. When the Pentagram (the star) is encircled becoming the Pentacle it unties Body with Mind and the Spiritual with the Profound. With Peace Profound, Rev LaPierre

Letter From A Friend....

I've been so confused, depressed, and kind of lost in the way that things are going in my life lately. I have two kids and no man anymore. I feel so alone and I want someone here with me for some adult companionship. It seems like no one understands the way I feel sometimes. I needed someone to tell me what was going on. So, I called a psychic for some answers. She told me that there is a black cloud of negativity that surrounds me. She also said that there is a female responsible for this. She then proceeded to tell me to send her money to take the Curse off from me. The next day I went to my friend Rev Dianna's house and told her about what the psychic said. Dianna then decided to look up a few things in the bible. She read me Exodus 19:9 and broke it down so I could understand it better. She came to the conclusion that the girl who is keeping this the cloud of negativity around me was caused by me. What? How could I be doing this? How could I be causing all this pain and negativity to myself. Dianna said that I'm doing this to myself by not letting things go. For example, putting up with my kid's father, letting him get to me. Instead of arguing about things in our relationship that are never going to change, it's time to let go. But, I don't want to be alone. I want to have a man in my life, someone to be here with me. Dianna and her mother-in-law (Rev. Rhonda LaPierre who was on the phone at the time) reminded me that I am not alone, ever. I have my children even if they are asleep. They also reminded me that I have my Angels and my God around me at all times. So, if I start to feel lonely or just want to talk to someone, just to start talking. It doesn't have to be out loud. I can do it in my head if I wanted to. They will always hear me. And in some way or another they will show me a sign that they are listening. It may be a chill, goose-bumps, or even just a feeling that someone is there. I just need to remember my faith that sometimes I tend to forget. It is also great to have a friend like Dianna to help me through my problems and remind me of the things that I believe in. And once I stop dwelling on the past, and the negativity, and finally learn to let go, the right things will happen for me. And the good stuff will find me. So thanks for all your help and support, (You know who you are!!) Becky White

Talking About Life ...

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you. 1 Peter 5:7 The passage above basically means exactly what it says. Everyday problems or feelings in life have their own passages in the Bible to make you feel better. Examples of this would be about fears, guilt, anger, pain......etc. Here are a few that have helped me in my everyday life. Anxiety- I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn't like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid. John 14:27 Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 Anger- And don't sin by letting anger gain control over you. Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a mighty foothold to the Devil. Ephesians 4:26-27 My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Your anger can never make things right in God's sight. James 1:19-20 Discouragement- Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father's home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. John 14:1-3 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid of them. The Lord your God will go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6 Fear- Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10 They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly. Psalm 112: 7-8 For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. Psalm 32:7 Loneliness- I will lie down in peace and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe. Psalm 4:8 For the mountains may depart and the hills disappear, but even then I will remain loyal to you. My covenant of blessing will never be broken, says the Lord, who has mercy on you. Isaiah 54:10 No, I will not abandon you as orphans- I will come to you. John 14:18 Pain- ABBA, Father, he said, everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine. Mark 14:36 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. Corinthians 4:17 Suffering and Death- And now, brothers and sisters, I want you to know what will happen to the Christians who have died so you will not be full of sorrow like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus comes, God will bring back with Jesus all the Christians who have died. 1Thessalonians 4:13-14 The Lord is close to the broken-hearted. Psalm 34:18 There are many more passages in the bible to help with your life. If you need or want a passage for something in your life other than what I have listed please feel free to call me at home. My home number is (207) 645-9579. Rev. Dianna Wright

A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm drawing God." The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like." Without missing a beat or looking up from her drawing the girl replied, "They will in a minute."

Winter Solstice

means the sun stands still, fitting perfectly for this time of year when the Sun reaches its greatest declination south of the celestial equator at 10 degrees Capricorn. The festivals date back from 3000 to 5000 BC. The Birth of the Sun/Son celebration did not show up in Christian tradition until 4th Century AD. The celebrations of the Winter Solstice serve to remind us not to become fully engulfed by darkness, rather choose to understand it and the gift it can bestow in the form of hope. Like Nature it's a time for rest and inner reflection for Spring time growth.

The Birth of JesusChrist"

This is the legend of how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came to be. The mother of Jesus, Mary, was pledged to be married to Joseph. Before they joined together in holy matrimony, Mary was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. On account of Joseph being a just man, he had in mind to divorce her quietly, to emancipate her from public humiliation. While he contemplated this, an angel of the Lord came forth to him in a dream. "Joseph, son of David," the angel said, "Do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name, Jesus, because he will save his people from their." This all came about to fulfill the Lord's message through the Prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" _ which means, "God" with us." Joseph did exactly what the Angel of the Lord said as soon as he awoken. And he took Mary home as his wife. They withstood any sexual acts until she gave birth to a son. And Joseph gave him the name Jesus. Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. A few wise men from the eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, questioning people, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him." King Herod was very disturbed about what was said. And all of Jerusalem agreed with him. He had called for all his people and asked them where the Christ was to be born. They replied, "In Bethlehem in Judea for this is what the prophet has written. "But you, Bethlehem in the land of Judea, are by no means least among the rulers of Judea. For out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel." King Herod asked his people to seek and find the child. He had lied to them and told them that he wanted to go and worship him. But, what he was really after was to kill him. Once the wise men went out to find the child then immediately the star appeared, guiding them to the place where the child was. The wise men were completely filled with joy. They entered where Jesus and his mother, Mary, were and fell before him to worship him. The wise men then opened their treasures and presented the child with gifts. They had brought Jesus gifts of Gold, of Incense, and of Myrrh. That night they had been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod. So, when it was time for them to go, they returned to their country by taking a different route. Jesus was now safe for King Herod for the time being. This story of Jesus Christ being born is extremely popular to all of the Christian Churches. Normally around Christmas the children of the churches put on the play that tells the story of the birth of Christ. It is also good to know the history of Christmas and how the birth of Christ came about. Rev Dianna Wright

The Search for "Christmas"

It's amazing what one finds when typing in the word "Christmas" in the search field of the internet. Wonder of wonders over fifty percent of the umpteen pages found were about "Shopping". We know by experience that this is what a lot of Christmas has become.. Credit Cards get racked up, purchasing over and above our means now more than any other time of the year. We buy gifts that may or may not get used, be needed, or not even be liked. These gifts may just sit and gather dust or be given or be thrown away,. We race to department stores pushing and shoving, even grabbing items out of others hands with "I gotta have that", with no "excuse me's", "pleases" or "thank you's". Emotions run high and not even good ones at that. Tempers get short, aisle rage becomes more prevalent than road rage. Yet Shopping was not the information I was looking for. Also on this same "search" for Christmas I found sites about Celebrations during this time in other countries. In Ethiopia "Christmas" is called "Ganna" and celebrated on January 7th. They receive candles when entering the church, light it and walk around the church three times. The Mass lasts 3+ hours in which time people have to stand threw the whole thing. Men are separated fro the women. Gift giving is a very small part of the celebration. In Hong Kong, Christians send artistic cards with the Holy Family in a Chinese setting. They decorate with poinsettias, paper chains, streamers and the nativity scene. Even Santa Claus, known as "Lan Khoong" or "Dun Che Lao Ren, has infiltrated their culture. In Greece, St. Nicholas is the patron Saint of Sailors not of little children. They say the main symbol for the season is a sprig of basil wrapped around a wooden cross which is kept in a bowl of water. Once a day someone, usually the Mom, sprinkles the water in every room of the house to keep the "killantzaroi" away. Now "Killantzaroi" are mischievous Goblins that appear on Earth during the 12 Days of Christmas. Chanukah has nothing to do with Christmas. It has to do with the war of the Hebrews/Jews and the Greeks. Kwanzaa also has nothing to do with Christmas it's more like a New Year Festival. I could go on and on with what can be found about others during this time of year, yet what does this all have to do with "Christ-mas." So the "search" continued.

Christ Mass

For the next "search" I broke up the word, "Christ Mass". Once again a million and a half items came up. At first I thought I was getting closer this time. Yet looking at it more I wasn't so sure. There were many sites debating the date on Jesus' birth. This discussion has been going on for a long time with no real answer in sight. At this point in our spiritual evolution does it really matter? If it did we would be picking apart every little bit of history not just this small piece of it. There were multiple sites debating the origin of "Christmas". One site said that Christmas was founded in 1038 in late Old English and was known as Cristes Maesse, the Mass of Christ, and had formed into Cristes-messe by 1131. A couple of paragraphs down it says that the festival started around 200AD with Clement of Alexandria. A Christian Gnostic, was a hundred years before. Another site said Tertullian, one of the church fathers, (155 - 220 CE) and a extreme Literalist, dismissed the festival altogether due to the fact that the Scriptures don't say anything about it. Imperial Natalitia assets that in Scripture sinners were the only ones that celebrated birthdays not saints. Glad we didn't listen to that. So it doesn't really matter how one celebrates or what one calls it's name. Nor how one choose to believe or not to believe. For this one day 50% more people are smiling than any other day. 50% more people make an effort to be with family and friends. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:20. 50% more people offer help to another, whether it be to do the dishes or to buy someone they don't know a cup of coffee. 50% more people will open up their hearts that little bit more and let their Light shine out. John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Matthew 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. And neither does it matter when and where Christmas started. The exact date has no real significant to the HEART. For on this one special day Humanity takes a step Forward.

Natalis Solis Invicti
Birthday of the Unconquerable Sun

In the Beginning . . . Genesis 1:3,4 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, and it was good.

The Light continues to Blaze!
